Two CEERRF students published in an international scientific journal

CEERRF is proud to announce the publication, on June 6, 2025, of the research work conducted by Mathilde Bourgeois and Marie Escande in the international journal Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology.

Their article, the result of a rigorous and methodical effort, investigates the behavior of the nucleus pulposus in the intervertebral disc under mechanical stress. Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, the study evaluates the validity of the so-called « dynamic disc model », commonly used to explain certain types of lower back pain. Their contribution addresses key public health concerns and is part of a broader commitment to high-level biomedical research.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of their thesis supervisors,Nadine Streit for Mathilde and Sebastien Herry for Marie, the support of CEERRF’s teaching team, and the involvement of external researchers such as Jean-Philippe Deneuville, among other co-authors cited in the paper.

This new recognition adds to the outstanding accomplishments of CEERRF students in recent years :

These successes highlight not only the quality of education provided at CEERRF, but also the ability of our students to produce high-value scientific work, sometimes in connection with Erasmus+ initiatives or European research networks.

Congratulations to Mathilde and Marie on this remarkable achievement, which reflects the dynamism and high standards of our training institute.
