Erasmus Mobility and Scientific Research : Camille’s Inspiring Journey

The CEERRF is proud to highlight the achievements of Camille, a fourth-year student and Erasmus ambassador, who conducted her research thesis under the supervision of Dr Marie Carmen Valenza from the University of Granada, Spain.

Her dedication, combined with the scientific rigor required for such a project, has led to well-deserved recognition: her research has been published in an international scientific journal.

This success reflects the high academic and scientific standards upheld at CEERRF, recognized not only nationally but also internationally. It also demonstrates our commitment to promoting research excellence and providing students with opportunities for intellectual growth beyond standard academic requirements.

Supporting Camille in Her Research Journey: A Rewarding Experience

By Dr Marie Carmen Valenza

Supervising a student in the development of their thesis is an exciting and enriching academic journey. Beyond the formal academic requirements, this process offers a unique opportunity to explore, experiment, and dive into the world of research.

Unfortunately, a thesis is sometimes seen as a mere obligation—an administrative step rather than an opportunity for intellectual growth. However, with Camille, the experience was quite the opposite. From the very beginning, she demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment, and ambition, transforming this project into a truly personal and academic endeavour. Her dedication and curiosity resulted in a research work she can be proud of—one that fostered both intellectual and personal growth.

For me, guiding her through this journey has been a deeply satisfying experience. Helping her structure her ideas, refine her reflections, and sharpen her reasoning has been a true pleasure. Her evolution, perseverance, and constant desire to improve led to an outstanding achievement: her thesis was recognized for its quality and will soon be published in a scientific journal.

This journey highlights a fundamental truth: when passion and rigor come together, research becomes a powerful tool for fulfilment. Camille embodies this mindset perfectly, and it has been a privilege to support her in this remarkable achievement.

Camille’s Testimonial

My goal was to conduct a research project, and I had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Marie Carmen Valenza, my thesis supervisor. Together, we decided to develop a publication on the differential diagnosis of chronic neck pain. To achieve this, we worked within the framework of the academic units required for my thesis and also benefited from a short-term ERASMUS+ mobility program.

Working with Carmen has been an incredible experience, allowing me to push my limits in the field of research. Throughout this project, I developed a questionnaire and processed original data. At the same time, I enhanced my research skills and deepened my understanding of the differential diagnosis of chronic neck pain.

After a year and a half of work, we successfully published our research, thanks in large part to the support of the research team at the University of Granada, under Carmen’s guidance. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to María Granados Santiago, Julia Raya-Benitez, Jésus Zamora-Tortosa et Alejandro Heredia Ciuro, for making this possible!

I strongly encourage CEERRF to continue developing its international collaborations, and I hope that future students will have the opportunity to engage in research and benefit from these valuable experiences!

A Critical Research Topic: The Differential Diagnosis of Chronic Neck Pain

Camille’s study addresses a crucial issue in physiotherapy: the management of chronic neck pain. This prevalent condition has a multifactorial etiology, making its differential diagnosis particularly complex for physiotherapists. The objective of this research was to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding this diagnosis.

Her work underscores the need for better integration of differential diagnosis training in physiotherapy education and paves the way for significant improvements in clinical management.
