Viva México! Rosa Takes Her Erasmus+ Placement Across the Atlantic

CEERRF is crossing a new frontier. For the very first time, one of our students has completed an Erasmus+ mobility in Mexico — a country associated with the European programme, which opens its doors well beyond the continent. Rosa Maria Fernanda Carmona Lopez shares a transatlantic adventure — deeply human, clinically rich, and unforgettable.

From Paris to Mexico: a mobility like no other

From 9 March to 29 May 2026, Rosa joined THERAPIK Fisioterapia & Rehabilitación, supervised by Aline Mascarua Sesma, physiotherapist and clinical supervisor. A heartfelt thank you to Aline and the entire THERAPIK team for their warm welcome and their dedication to our student.

This placement marks a milestone for CEERRF: proof that the Erasmus+ programme, through its mobility agreements with associated partner countries, now enables our students to reach far beyond Europe.

A return to her roots, a profound transformation

What makes Rosa’s story particularly powerful is its personal depth. Originally from Mexico, she had left her home country nine years ago. This placement was far more than a clinical experience.

« I wanted to reconnect with Mexican culture, traditions, food — and to be close to my family again. This experience helped me better understand who I am today. »

Returning to Mexico after years in France, Rosa became acutely aware of how much she had changed: « My way of thinking, working and seeing life is different now. Living abroad transforms a person.. » A reflection on identity and openness to the world that resonates well beyond physiotherapy.

A rich and varied clinical immersion

Professionally, Rosa discovered a complete and stimulating hospital environment. Neurology, intensive care, post-partum, musculoskeletal rehabilitation: she explored a wide range of services throughout her placement.

What struck her most? The human dimension, above all. « I was moved by the relationship between healthcare professionals and their patients. Even after a tough day, everyone stayed smiling and ready to help. »

She also noticed a significant difference from the French model: in Mexico, physiotherapists may be called upon to work across other healthcare fields depending on the institution’s needs. This flexibility gave her a broader vision of multidisciplinary teamwork.

Her supervisors regularly placed her in clinical reasoning situations through continuous assessment — strengthening her analytical thinking and adaptability, two core competencies at the heart of the Erasmus+ programme’s objectives.

An experience that transforms, a school that supports

« Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, I lived a unique experience that transformed me and will stay with me forever. It allowed me to rediscover my home country while strengthening my professional path. »

CEERRF is committed to supporting its students in the most ambitious mobility projects. Whether in Europe or on other continents, our dedication to the internationalisation of physiotherapy training knows no borders.

So — how far will you go?
