Erasmus+ in Switzerland: Romane discovers physiotherapy from a new angle
When we think of international mobility, we sometimes picture far-flung destinations. But sometimes, just a few hours from Paris is all it takes to find an experience that changes everything. Romane Bride, a 3rd-year student at CEERRF, completed her Erasmus+ placement at Physiothérapie La Colline Nations, in Geneva, from 2 March to 29 May 2026. She was welcomed and supervised by Emilien Pelcat, the physiotherapist responsible for student placements at the centre. A warm thank you to him and the entire team for their support.
Two systems, two visions of the profession
One of the most striking differences between France and Switzerland lies in how the profession is structured academically. In France, physiotherapy training is recognised at master’s level — five years of study. In Switzerland, a bachelor’s degree — three years — is sufficient to practise as a fully qualified physiotherapist. Two models, two approaches to professional recognition, and plenty of stimulating questions for a student building her clinical identity.
This encounter between different healthcare and training systems is precisely what the Erasmus+ programme aims to foster: understanding that physiotherapy is practised differently depending on context, culture and healthcare organisation — and using that understanding to build a broader, stronger vision of one’s future career.
A positive, human and restorative experience
Romane looks back on her placement with a very positive overall impression. The contact with nature, the Swiss quality of life, and the quality of exchanges with local professionals all left their mark. She had already expressed this ambition in her cover letter before leaving : « My goal is to broaden my learning internationally and discover physiotherapy in a different form. I see this opportunity as a chance to develop my skills as much as possible».
Mission accomplished. Her testimonial is brief but sincere : « I had the opportunity to discover a new culture and a different healthcare system. I was able to develop my practice with a broader perspective on physiotherapy».
Sometimes, the most important things are said in the fewest words.
CEERRF: a resolutely international school
With placements in Spain, Portugal, Mexico and now Switzerland, CEERRF is firmly establishing its international identity. Every experience is unique; every destination brings its own lessons. What they all have in common: they transform the students who dare to take the leap.
The Erasmus+ programme makes these adventures accessible — financially and administratively. CEERRF is here to support you every step of the way. So, where will you go next?
