“Imagine for Margo” race

Claire, student in K4, participated in a charity race with the support of our IFMK

On September 27, 2020, the 9th edition of the charity run for the association “Imagine for Margo” was held to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. This association was initiated by a 14-year-old girl, Margo, to educate Internet users about her fight against the disease and to collect donations that are 100% donated to research. Margo’s fight continues: communication actions and solidarity events are organized to get her message across: “go ahead, fight, win: go, fight, win”.

1 in 440 children is diagnosed with cancer before the age of 15, 2,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in France, 500 of them die each year. Since the association was created in 2011, more than 10 million euros has been donated to 20 French and European research programs to accelerate research against childhood cancer.

During my internships I was able to meet children or young adults with cancer. I have always admired their courage, their maturity and their mind to fight disease. My participation in this race is my way of supporting them in their fight.

The registration procedures for this race are specific: each participant must open a prize pool of at least € 200 (€ 100 for minors and students) to take the start. To collect these funds, I distributed my pot on social networks and organized, with the help of the BDE and students, a sale of pancakes and cakes within the CEERRF (while respecting the barrier gestures and hygiene standards required). A donation was also made by CEERRF to contribute to the cause.

In view of the health context, the race was fully connected: all participants were free to run, walk or play sports via a live program set up by the association from their homes. This year, a check for € 1,325,000 was collected for Fight Kids Cancer researchers.

A big thank you to CEERRF, Union and its students for the support!

Let’s run for those who can’t: “Go ahead, fight and win. ”
